Hi! I’m Lindsay, and I’m the food-obsessed creator behind this tiny, happy business. I’m so glad you stopped by!
So – why the name, Farm to Film?
I grew up in a small, rural town in Northeastern Ohio, and have always been enamored with the region’s gorgeous rolling hills, rustic charms, and yes – the numerous, picturesque farms that dot our lush landscapes. But like many small-town kids, I always had a healthy curiosity about the world around me and couldn’t wait to start exploring. I was convinced that my destiny lied elsewhere, in some big city or hip coastal town.
But the more I traveled, the more I found that I missed my humble little hometown; the green pastures, abundant crops, and cow-studded pastures. Above all? I missed the food. That warm, cozy, midwestern-style cooking that really knows how to stick to your ribs in the dead of winter.
As I grew older, my appreciation for Ohio’s food and agriculture blossomed. Particularly, food that was grown locally and hand-crafted, where you could truly feel the love of its creator in every bite. Inspired by the booming local culinary scene and farm-to-table movement, I spent my spare time learning as much as I could about food and where it comes from. Somewhat lacking in culinary talent myself, I taught myself to cook and bake, documenting all of my triumphs and failures with late night text messages to friends and family, describing that day’s great culinary discoveries (and disasters).
My passion for food quickly became an obsession, as I relished those precious moments either spent in my own kitchen or else enjoying the unforgettable creations that came from someone else’s. The more enamored I became with food, the more I yearned to somehow permanently capture its magic. Whether it was the joy of a freshly roasted chicken coming out of the oven, it’s golden skin crispy and glistening, or the unbearable longing one feels at the sight of a triple layer cake drenched in ganache, I searched for a way to document those emotions.
So, I started taking pictures of my food, trying to hold onto those fleeting culinary moments, and instantly fell in love. Shortly thereafter, Farm to Film was born.
When I’m not taking pictures, I love making ice cream (check out my food blog here) and exploring the world with my awesome husband, the most amazing partner in crime a girl could ever ask for.
